Why is there no price list for forehead reduction?

Forehead reduction is planned around one person's forehead. How far the hairline can come forward depends on how loose the scalp is and how tall the forehead is now. Some patients need forehead reduction alone; others ask about a brow lift, rhinoplasty or eyelid surgery at the same time. A single published figure would describe none of these plans accurately, so Dr. Dilber reviews your photos before any cost is discussed.

The operation itself follows a set pattern. It takes 1.5 to 2 hours under general anaesthesia at Acıbadem Bakırköy Hospital, with one night in hospital. You arrive in Istanbul the day before surgery for the consultation and health tests, and the plaster comes off on day 4 at the Ataköy practice, after which you can fly home. Your quotation is built on this schedule.

Dr. Dilber reviews your photos, examines you at his practice in Ataköy and performs the operation. If he thinks surgery will not give the change you want, he tells you so before any quotation. Read more about Dr. Dilber.

How do you get a written quotation?

Consultation room at the practice in Ataköy, Istanbul
Consultation room at the practice in Ataköy, Istanbul
  1. Send your photos on WhatsApp

Photograph your forehead from the front, left and right with your hair pulled back so the hairline shows. Add your medical history, any previous hair transplant and the dates you could travel. Dr. Dilber's assistant presents them to Dr. Dilber. A video consultation with him can be arranged if you want one or it is needed.

  2. Dr. Dilber reviews your photos

He looks at your forehead height, your hairline and whether forehead reduction is likely to give the change you want, and decides whether you are a candidate. If surgery would not suit you, you are told before any quotation is made. If a brow lift fits better, he says so. If you are suitable, he outlines a plan.

  3. You receive a written quotation

The quotation names the planned operation and lists what it covers: surgery, general anaesthesia, pre-operative tests, one night in hospital and follow-up checks. It also states what is not included: medication, hotel and transfers. Ask the team about any line you do not understand before you book travel.

  4. The plan is confirmed in Ataköy

The day before surgery, Dr. Dilber examines you in person at his practice in Ataköy, goes through the risks with you, takes your consent and marks the new hairline. Health tests and the anaesthetic assessment follow at Acıbadem Bakırköy Hospital, one of Turkey's leading private hospital groups.

What decides the cost of forehead reduction?

Three things shape a forehead reduction quotation. The first is the plan itself: how far the hairline is brought forward and how much forehead skin is removed. Dr. Dilber judges this from your photos and checks scalp movement by hand at the consultation. The second is whether another procedure, such as rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery or a brow lift, is added in the same operation. Combined surgery can take 5 to 6 hours, and the details of a combined plan are given after consultation.

The third is the hospital part: the operation, general anaesthesia, pre-operative tests and one night in hospital, together with your follow-up checks. All of these are included in the quotation. Medication, hotel and transfers are not; a hotel and transfer package is available on request through the team. Read about who is a candidate before your photo review.

What if surgery is not suitable for you?

A quotation is written only after Dr. Dilber has reviewed your photos and medical history and decided that you are a candidate. If he thinks forehead reduction will not give the change you want, or your health rules it out, you are told before any quotation is made. If a different approach would suit you better, such as a brow lift, he explains why.

If you are comparing quotations, compare what each one covers: who operates, where, the hospital night, anaesthesia, the length of stay and the follow-up after you return home. A total that leaves out the hospital night or the follow-up does not describe the same plan. Ask the team to explain any difference you notice, and keep all quotations in writing so the comparison stays clear.

What if you need extra care after surgery?

Any cosmetic surgery carries risks. For forehead reduction they include bleeding, infection, numbness or altered sensation behind the hairline, a visible or widened scar, hair loss along the incision, an uneven hairline and the need for revision surgery. Dr. Dilber explains each one at the in-person consultation in Ataköy, before you agree to surgery.

After you return home, you send photos on WhatsApp at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months, and Dr. Dilber and his assistants review them and adjust creams or medication if needed. These follow-up checks are part of your quotation. If you notice redness, discharge, an opening wound or increasing pain, send photos straight away; Dr. Dilber advises on treatment and whether you should see a doctor locally. See aftercare after you fly home.
