What is Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia is an enlargement of the breast tissue most commonly seen in males. It is not harmful to your health, but it is aesthetically disturbing. This increase in breast volume may result from an imbalance of testosterone and estrogen hormones.

Side effects of some medications, especially in overweight people, and hormonal changes with age that can also cause gynecomastia. Patients with gynecomastia may experience breast enlargement, tenderness, and pain.

How is gynecomastia surgery performed?

Before the gynecomastia surgery, the patient has a preliminary consultation with Dr. Ahmet Dilber. Then various hormonal tests and general examinations are performed before the surgery. The patient who is found to be suitable for gynecomastia surgery on the basis of the tests and health check-ups can be admitted as an inpatient. During gynecomastia surgery, which takes about 1-1.5 hours, small incisions are made in the patient's chest area, and the breast fat is removed through these incisions. In some cases, mammary gland tissue may be removed along with the breast fat.

At the end of gynecomastia surgery, which ends in a very short time and is a comfortable surgery, our male patients leave satisfied with the aesthetic appearance of the breast area. After the surgery, the patient spends one night in the hospital and can go home or to a hotel the next day after the necessary follow-ups.

As long as excess weight is not gained after the operation, it is unlikely.
