Forehead Reduction

Forehead reduction surgery is performed to shorten the distance between the hairline and the eyebrows.

Forehead Reduction Surgery

The forehead region is one area that significantly affects the facial organs' symmetry and the esthetic appearance of the other facial organs. Having a forehead that is wider than it should be and a hairline that is higher than it should be can cause discomfort for people with this problem because it gives the face an asymmetrical appearance. Especially in female patients, the width of the forehead, which gives the face a more masculine appearance, may be a result of genetic factors or hair loss. The surgery that provides a permanent solution for our patients with wide forehead problems is forehead reduction surgery, which is often preferred today.

How is forehead reduction surgery performed?

Consultations with patients who are candidates for forehead reduction surgery are performed preoperatively by Dr. Ahmet Dilber. During this consultation, as with all other surgeries, markings and drawings are made to guide the surgery and determine the most appropriate forehead width for the patient. After the preliminary consultation and examinations, the patient is ready for surgery. During forehead reduction surgery, which is performed under general anesthesia, incisions are made to bring the forehead line closer to the facial area, excess skin in this area is removed, and the surgery is completed with sutures. At the end of the surgery, a symmetrical and harmonious appearance with the facial organs is achieved as planned.

Step 1: The patient, who wants to get detailed information about the forehead reduction surgery and make an appointment, starts the conversation with Dr. Ahmet Dilber's team through our communication channels. During this online consultation, we ask the patient to provide images of the right and left profiles and anterior angles of the region where the surgery is desired. The patient's suitability for the bichectomy surgery is determined by Dr. Ahmet Dilber, and in special cases, a video consultation is conducted.

Step 2: The patient, who is deemed to be a suitable candidate for forehead reduction surgery through online consultation, can schedule an appointment for an examination or surgery. Patients living abroad or outside the city must be in Istanbul at least one day before the surgery. On the first day, a personal consultation with Dr. Ahmet Dilber is performed at our clinic in Ataköy. The day before the surgery, the patient visits the hospital for medical tests.

Step 3: As a result of the tests performed, the surgery process can begin for the patient, who has no obstacles to undergoing forehead reduction surgery. Before and after the surgery, Dr. Ahmet Dilber visits the patient in her/his room. The patient is kept in the hospital for 1 night under observation. The next day, the patient is discharged.

Step 4: After the surgery, the examination of the patient is performed by Dr. Ahmet Dilber. If it is deemed necessary, cream will be recommended. On the fifth day after the surgery, after the last checks, our patient can leave Istanbul if he/she is coming from the city or abroad.

Step 5: If the patient lives in Istanbul, in-person regular monthly follow-ups will be performed, and if he/she lives abroad, follow-ups are performed through the images sent through WhatsApp. Dr. Ahmet Dilber monitors the patient's progress and can recommend medications if necessary.

After forehead reduction surgery, patients should regularly use the recommended creams and medications and protect the surgical area from impact. The possibility of scarring is minimized in patients who follow Dr. Ahmet Dilber's pre- and post-operative instructions.
