Chin Implant

It is an operation performed to ensure the proportion of the chin and other structures on the face.

Chin Implant

A jaw implant is a surgery performed to restore the proportions of the chin and other structures on the face and improve the appearance of the chin. Unlike a filling, this procedure offers a permanent solution with an average surgery time of only one hour. The short duration of the procedure and recovery, as well as the fact that it is a permanent solution, have led to this procedure being requested more and more by patients daily.

How is a jaw implant done?

Chin implant surgery, which takes an average of 30-60 minutes, can be performed under local or general anesthesia. A chin implant can be performed for various purposes, including moving the chin forward, tightening jaw angles, and adjusting asymmetries. Depending on the purpose, the implant can be placed at the tip or the sides of the chin.

The implant's type and location are determined by Dr. Ahmet Dilber's expert opinion and the patient's expectations before surgery. Following the surgery, the patient stays in the hospital for one night and is visited by Dr. Ahmet Dilbar before and after the surgery. The next day, the patient can return home or to his/her hotel.

Day 1: The patient stays at the hospital overnight for observation after the chin implant surgery, and the next day, she/he is discharged. If the incision is made through the mouth during the implant surgery, the patient should consume fluids for the first few days after surgery. Then, soft foods that do not stress the jaw can be consumed.

Day 5: The patient, whose follow-ups are performed by Dr. Ahmet Dilber, can go home at the end of the fifth day. Since the sutures used in the surgery are absorbable, they do not need to be removed. (The stitches dissolve in 5-21 days.) Physical contact with the face and chin during the recovery process should be avoided.

Days 7-14: The patient can return to work as of the 7th day after the chin implant surgery. The use of medications and creams recommended by the doctor during the recovery process should not be interrupted. Heavy activities and sports should be avoided, and the area should be protected from impact. It is recommended to lie on the back and elevate the head for at least 1 to 2 weeks after surgery.

Month 1: Edema and swelling begin to go down toward the end of the first month. Monthly check-ups of patients continue, either in person or through images sent on WhatsApp.

To undergo chin implant surgery, patients must have completed the development of their facial features, typically around age 16-17 for females and 17-18 for males. Patients deemed suitable for surgery by their doctor and without any contraindications may opt for chin implant surgery.
